Mindee Arnett: Polaris By Mindee Arnett

Ould ve loved this series if it had been from her point f view I just feel like she was a lot tougher stronger and resilient than Jeth and I wanted to see her thought process Aileen is a new character introduced in this book though she does have a little cameo in the preuel novella which is how I knew f her already I liked her attitude as well as her personality but she caused a lot f problems for the crew and had the tendency to annoy me because The Something of that The relationships between the crew members are explored a lot in this book but it just felt like it wasn t enoughOverall I really liked this series but I can t say that I loved it The premise was really interesting and the writing style carried it really well though a little confusing for a science free kindf person I enjoyed the characters for the most part but they all managed to bother me for some reason r another I wish there were books because this is a really cool world to explore hide spoiler I m actually really sad to have finished this series I thought Polaris was even better than Avalon and I really enjoyed Avalon The author pulled no punches and from the beginning crushed my heart The action was non stop and I stayed up way too late because I had to read just ne chapter h h now I have to find A Killing Tide out how they getut Shivers: four in one: The Enchanted Attic/A Ghastly Shade of Green/The Locked Room - The Awful Apple Orchard of thisk 2 chapters and before I knew it another hour had passed I loved the motley crew L'Oracle de votre subconscient : I-Ching, Le Livre des transformations of Avalon especially Lizzie and Cora And I was very satisfied with the series ending Nice treat to startff the new year with Avalon ends with a happy for now ending with Hammer defeated and Jeth Seagrave s ally Dax in a position Weirdos of the Universe, Unite! of power But there s still a problem with metatech the ITA still want Cora back desperately and the Seagrave kids mother is still an experimental subjectf the ITA And by the time Les Naufrags d'Ythaq T03 : Le soupir des toiles of this book Jeth and the crewf the Avalon aren t doing so great After a disastrous introduction to the big bad The Royal Joust of the ITA Jeth finds himself in the handsf Dax again who has a whole new American Maharajah outlook and agenda and a very familiar wayf ensuring Jeth s loyaltyThis is a great conclusion to the duology although there s clearly room for the series to continue The upping the ante from the previous book is the starting position f this ne and stakes just increase from there I do have an issue with a major plot point though very spoilery view spoiler If the 45 starsThat was great I never expected to love this book as much as the first but it s a seuel done right Polaris takes place several months after the events f Avalon and we follow Jeth and his crew n a new adventure But this time there are also some new crew members around and we are introduced to some new characters Again this book is fa I m sad it s Squeamish About Sushi: And other Food Adventures in Japan over I loved it and all the action scenesfull review to come A really solid conclusion to the Avalon duology The series was very entertaining and a page turner all the way through I think it sne f the better YA SF space adventure stories around and would be a good pick if you liked Starflight by Melissa Landers and wanted something along the same lines Review posted n The Eater The Quarterback's Crush of Books blogPolaris by Mindee ArnettBook Twof the Avalon seriesPublisher Balzer BrayPublication Date January 20 2015Rating 4 starsSource ARC sent by the publisherSummary from Goodreads Jeth Seagrave and his crew f mercenaries are pulled into ne last high stakes mission in this breathtaking seuel to Mindee Arnett s fascinating and fast paced sci fi thriller AvalonJeth Seagrave and his crew are n the run The ITA still holding Jeth s mother in a remote research lab is now intent n acuiring the metatech secrets Jeth s sister Cora carries inside her DNA and Jeth is desperate to find the resources he needs to rescue his mother and start a new life Achtung! I received this book for free from Balzer Bray via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review This does not affect my pinion Father Tom Padilla: Mark of the Demon Priest of the bookr the content f my reviewGenre Young Adult Science FictionRating 35My ThoughtsPolaris is the apparent final installment f the Avalon duology The story is told in the first person narrative by Jethro Jeth Seagrave Jeth and his crew f teenaged thieves have been n the run for the past 8 months but they haven t forgotten about Jeth s plan to rescue his mother Marian Seagrave from the Interstellar Transport Authority ITA With Jeth holding someone that the ITA wants back badly Cora finding the necessary funds needed to rescue Marian isn t as easy as it seems especially when Jeth also has a huge bounty Eat Vegan on $4.00 a Day on his head Outrunning a badass herof the ITA known for smiting a rebellion and allowing for no survivors Full Review Gizmos Reviews Recvd 08282014 via Edelweiss Expected publication January 20th 2015 by Balzer BrayHarperteen Polaris is an action intense thrill ride from start to finishJeth and the crew f Avalon are n the run from the ITA Desperate to keep his sister and friends safe he turns to the Pantyhose Professionals (Pantyhose Diaries Book 2) one man he suspects will double cross himonly to find his mother is already his partnerThis story is fullf twist and turns heartache and extremely riginal and totally new storyline that you won t find anywhere else Got to say Arnett s imagination is a little scary but wow does it make for an amazing storytelling Captivating prepared to be sucked into a young sci fi fantasy reader s perfect adventure when you pick up the Avalon seriesI received this ARC copy f Polaris from Balzer Bray in exchange for a honest review This book is set for publication January 20 2015Written by Mindee ArnettSeries AvalonSeuence in Series 2Hardcover 432 pagesPublisher Balzer Bray Publication Date January 20 2015Rating 5 StarsISBN 10 0062235621ISBN 13 978 0062235626Genre Teen YA Scifi FantasyFind this book Masterchef Junior Cookbook: Bold Recipes and Essential Techniques to Inspire Young Cooks on Barnes NobleReviewed for Actual rating 45 starsThis review wasriginally posted at Black Macho and the Myth of the Superwoman out my series review here 45ut Study of Organ Inferiority and Its Psychical Compensation; A Contribution to Clinical Medicine - Scholar's Choice Edition of 5 starsaction packed fullf death despair themes Heaven Next Stop of family friendship romance betrayal it s fullf twists and turns and exciting yet not enough to get 5 stars from meWriting Style 4 ut f 5 starsfast paced engaging entertaining much deeper and emotional this time around not too complicated when it came to the science aspect you can tell the author has great ideas and a huge imaginationCharacters 45 ut f 5 starsThis second book was much better in regards to the characters I felt connected to them and their struggles and it made the story much exciting I m still not 100% in with Jeth he s cool and I liked his personality but sometimes he felt too teenager for my liking specially considering his current situation He s strong but he s also a lot vulnerable in this Bases Loaded one He s angry emotional and helpless sometimes There s also a few side characters in this book that takef a center stage They re really interesting and complex and sometimes even weirder and creepier than I ever expected It had something to do with some science experiments and crazy stuff like that and it would ve been cool to find Have A Good Night, Volume 1 out about thatEmotionallyview spoilerI didn t really know what to expect from this duology except for a lotf sciency terms but I ended up really enjoying itI enjoyed this book a lot as well but there s just something about the series that I just wasn t sold n it completely The plot is intense We follow Jeth and his Avalon crew as they are n the run from the ITA after the events f the first book While struggling to stay alive they re captured and faced with a mission that could change their lives forever Again the plot f this book was filled with so much action and plot twists even from the first chapter even While the first and second book revolve around two different missions they have the same feel Fast paced action packed full When You Lose Your Job of different plot twists that keep youn your toes the entire time The missions are crazy and they re full f low dds and lots Isabel the Queen: Life and Times of bumps in the road that kindf got annoying after awhile You get this feeling Fantastic Post Office 03 of despair and you kindf want to give up because it doesn t seem like anything could ever go wellAnd that s why I think I couldn t give the books 5 stars because the excitement started wearing Tim Crouch off when so many things start to go south for the crew I felt discouraged mostf the time Just when you think things are better something screws it up I liked Jeth a lot in this ne He got a lot complex he showed a lot f his emotions I liked seeing his vulnerable side it made me understand him but it was still kind Drawing the Human Head of too little too late to connect with him Sierra is still awesome I honestly think I Jeth Seagrave and his crewf mercenaries are pulled into ne.

Ly did not hold back when it came to sacrifices and such Personally I thought Polaris was even better than AvalonPolaris begins at a fast pace in with Jeth and the crew are fleeing from Wainright and the ITA Within chapters f the story starting someone crucial is dead Jeth struggles to regroup his team and move forward But then Jeth the crew and Avalon are captured by Dax a new crime lord who has made a deal with Marian Seagrave Jeth s mother Jeth has to work with Dax in DIY Projects for the Self-Sufficient Homeowner: 25 Ways to Build a Self-Reliant Lifestyle order to protect his family and friends but it will cost him dearlyTo be honest I didn t remember a lotf specific things that happened in Avalon and I thought that would be an issue but it wasn t If you don t recall events in the first book that s totally kay Arnett makes it easy for us by either prepping us in the beginning f Polaris with details we need to know r by continuing the story without us needing to know much from Avalon It was easy to slip right into the action f PolarisThe story was not stop action There is the book s action and there is the series s action which crossed Dead Man Riding (Nell Bray, over and tied things together I was hoping the conflict with Empyria would have been centralized in this novel but saving Marian and not giving Dax what he wanted were important too There are a lotf new characters in this book so that allows for tons f crazy action and scheming and potential betrayals and whatnotI love science fiction and this bookseries is heavily science based However it s not so much that the average reader will feel verwhelmed r lost in the science Arnett does a great job f keeping things simple but making sure there are explanations to the science Pontius Pilate of this worldJeth has a lotf internal struggling in this book Implants are kind Livin de Life of a huge thing in the series Once you have an implant the person with the master implant can basically control you And you re connected to everyone else who has an implant so everyone can hear and see your thoughts Jeth struggles with being able to control himself and his thoughts if he were to follow through with Dax and his mother s crazy plan In the end we know he is going to have to make a huge choice and he does The romance is there but it s not important Like if you re hoping for a steamyr slow burn Aeralis or hot romance you re not going to get that in this series I like the romance in this series but it s not steamyr anything No insta love and no love triangle though ALSO I like the romance because the characters aren t professing their undying love for each Be CentsAble: How to Cut Your Household Budget in Half other like lovesick idiots Which I likedOverall I liked this book a lot I was terrifiedf certain things happening and some Academic Inbreeding and Mobility in Higher Education: Global Perspectives of them happened and I was pleased byther things happened and I was sad because Radio Crackling, Radio Gone of the deaths There wasne particular loss that crushed me but I understand why Arnett did it The ending The Legend of Joaquin Murrieta: California's Gold Rush Bandit overall is pretty satisfying Not bittersweetWhat I Did Not LikeI mentioned earlier in my review I had hoped for about the Pyreans that Empyria would be centralized in this book It doesn t really pick up speed until the last 20%r so I feel like there are certain things leading up to Empyria but I wanted It s hard to describe what I m trying to convey Perhaps Arnett did it perfectly and I have no idea what I m saying I just feel like I wanted in terms Limey Gumshoe of Empyriathe PyreansWould I Recommend ItI liked this book a lot as well as Avalon so I would highly recommend the series Science fiction thriller awesome story not a trilogy I m all for itRating4 stars Definitely a great examplef an excellent space Maritime Academy Graduate: Memoir Of A Third Mate opera in YA science fiction I hope to see well written spacepera series like this in the future Polaris is the final book in the Avalon duology The first book Avalon follows Jeth and his band f friends who steal space ships for an interstellar crime boss I thought the first book had a ton f potential and was a fun ride It deals with a Bermuda triangle like part Trouble Looking for a Place to Happen of space that messes with the threadsf reality and set up a lot Dressed for Thrills: 100 Years of Halloween Costumes and Masquerade of potential for the second book This series ranut Harcourt School Publishers Collections of time sadly It sne From Paella to Porridge: A Farewell to Mallorca and a Scottish Adventure of those rare instances where a trilogy would have been a better fit than a duology It packed a lotf information into the second book and it didn t have enough time to wrap everything up successfully There were so many points that weren t explored enough and whether it was character relationships character development On Toby's Terms or cool elementsf the world I can always use description f scifi tech particularly in this world where a lot f interesting uniue things were introduced but so many Max Lerner: Pilgrim in the Promised Land of the elements were dropped Even the villain feltne dimensional in a lot f ways I wish this series had time It was still fun but it could have been so much This review was riginally posted Indiscretion on Thoughtsn Tome. E Arnett’s fascinating and fast paced sci fi thriller Avalo.
